OMAN

Between Yemen and the United Arab Emirates, in the south of Saudi Arabia and opposite Bombay, the Sultanate of Oman is a real gem, offering magnificent landscapes, a rich biodiversity and some architectural wonders. Being the Kingdom of Sinbad the sailor, the queen of Sheba and the Arabian Nights, preserved from the excesses of modernity, the country is proud of its ancient heritage. Omanis show a strong sense of identity and confidence in the future. The Bedouins still live in the desert and their values remain at the heart of any Omani welcome.

Sultan Qaboos Ben Saïd Al-Saïd ruled Oman as an enlightened monarch from 1970 to 2020. He was very progressive and, in particular, always considered women to be essential for the good development and stability of the country. He encouraged their emancipation and determination in many areas. At the end of 2019, I travelled to Oman for a photographic project. The idea is to meet several women across the country to collect their portraits and stories. Women of all ages, with different life paths. A magical journey, full of beautiful people met on the way.
